blk on blk

One of my favorite color combinations has always been "black on black".  It's classic, chic and visibly effortless. It's true that in writing an all black outfit sounds boring but in reality it's far from dull. With the right pieces you can put together a cool and very stylish combo. One thing I like to do when wearing all black is mix fabrics and textures (leather, denim, knit, cotton etc). By doing so, I add dimension and personality to my ensemble making the outfit look a lot cooler. These little details make all the difference when wearing  one color from head to toe. The good thing about wearing the same color is that you have endless options. =) Another alternative when wearing all black is to add a hint of color like I did here. Adding a pop of color is always fun but not a must. On this particular day I aimed for something cozy. I wore a black knit   sweater, black waxed   jeans and black suede   boots. For extra warmth and color I wore a bold mustard scarf that had me blending in with all the beautiful tress outside! =D   Pretty simple right?

Chunky knits

It's finally sweater weather in LA so naturally I started digging out my Fall/Winter gear from deep in my closet. During my exciting closet search I rediscovered my favorite striped knit sweater (hearty eyes). I'd forgotten how much I love it! Unfortunately, many of us make the same mistake. We ditch our old clothes and rush to buy new ones and we eventually forget all about those great pieces we use to love. As tempting as it is, shopping for a new wardrobe every single season can get really expensive especially during the holidays. If you're on a budget I would suggest searching your closet and storage, who knows what kind of  hidden gems you'll find.   When you finally bring out all your oldies, like I did, you'll be able to decide what you think your wardrobe is missing. This way you'll know what you need to shop for. For instance, when I found this striped sweater I knew I would wanna wear it with colored bottoms, instead of the traditional black or white. To me, adding a third color would make this outfit standout. So when I went to the store I already had a game plan, which definitely helps and keeps you focused on what you need to buy.  I found this suede skirt that I thought was the perfect pop of color to match my chunky stripe sweater and the great thing about it is I saved money because I didn't need to buy a whole new outfit.  I've always said that when on a budget recycling  garments is always a good way to save.
